Hamster feeding temperature

The suitable temperature range for hamster breeding is 20-28°C. Within this temperature range, hamsters will feel comfortable and healthy. If the temperature is outside this range, it may have a negative impact on the health of hamsters.

Impact of high temperature: When the ambient temperature exceeds 26 degrees Celsius, hamsters may experience symptoms such as rapid breathing and listlessness, which may lead to heatstroke and overheating. Therefore, in summer or hot weather, ensure that the living environment of hamsters is well ventilated and provide appropriate cooling measures such as fans or cooling pads.

Impact of low temperature: Too low temperature may make hamsters feel cold and uncomfortable. When the temperature is lower than 18 degrees Celsius, hamsters may reduce activities and look for warm places to hide. In winter or cold weather, provide enough warmth and shelter to avoid hamsters from getting cold.

In addition, hamsters are mammals with a small body size and are relatively sensitive to temperature changes. When the ambient temperature is relatively low, it is recommended to prepare relatively shredded wood shavings or warm cotton for hamsters, which can play a role in keeping out the cold. At the same time, the hamster's cage can also be placed in a relatively warm place to avoid making the hamster cold.

To maintain a stable temperature in the hamster's living environment and avoid sudden temperature fluctuations, the following measures can be taken:

Avoid direct sunlight and direct drafts: Hamsters are very sensitive to temperature. Avoid placing them in places with direct sunlight or direct drafts.

Provide appropriate bedding: In winter, lay more wood shavings, cotton and other bedding materials in the hamster cage. You can also directly put the cage into a cardboard box, but pay attention to ventilation.

Regular cleaning and maintenance: Regularly clean and maintain the hamster's cage to ensure that their living environment is clean and hygienic.

If abnormal behavior, loss of appetite or other health problems are found in hamsters, further inspection and adjustment of the ambient temperature may be required. At the same time, provide appropriate bedding, nests and shelters to help hamsters regulate body temperature and stay comfortable.
