How long do dwarf hamsters live?

The lifespan of dwarf hamsters is usually two to three years. Most dwarf hamsters live for about two years, and a small number can live up to around three years.

The lifespan of dwarf hamsters is affected by various factors, including gender and the number of times they reproduce. Generally speaking, the lifespan of female hamsters that have never given birth is longer than that of male hamsters. And the more times a female hamster gives birth, the shorter its lifespan will be. In addition, dwarf hamsters are relatively small in size, usually weighing between 20 and 70 grams and being about 4 to 8 centimeters long. If they are not taken good care of, they are prone to getting sick and dying.

To extend the lifespan of dwarf hamsters, breeders need to pay attention to the following points:

Reasonable Feeding: Keep a balanced diet and avoid overfeeding high-fat and high-sugar foods.

Maintaining Environmental Hygiene: Clean the cage regularly to keep it dry and hygienic.

Timely Treatment: Once it is found that the hamster is sick, treat it in a timely manner.

Avoiding Overbreeding: Control the number of reproductions and avoid excessive breeding of female hamsters.
