How to raise a snowball hamster?

Basic Information about Syrian Hamsters (Snowball Hamsters)

Syrian hamsters are viviparous animals. They look a lot like white mice, but they have red eyes. Their whole bodies are snow-white without any stray hairs, and they are about the same size as ordinary dwarf hamsters. Syrian hamsters are rather sensitive to sounds, have a feisty temperament, and are timid and suspicious.

  Raising Environment

Temperature: Syrian hamsters are sensitive to both cold and heat. The suitable living temperature for them is between 20 and 28 degrees Celsius. Avoid placing their cages in direct sunlight or outdoors in winter.

Environment: Keep the environment quiet and avoid interference from noise and electronic products (such as televisions and speakers). Syrian hamsters are extremely sensitive to sounds and can hear sounds that humans can't.

  Diet Management

Food Types: Grains of various kinds should be the main part of their diet, while fruits and vegetables can be supplementary foods. During special periods (such as pregnancy and lactation), high-protein foods like mealworms, superworms, and cooked eggs can be provided.

Feeding Frequency: Don't give too many fruits and vegetables to avoid causing diarrhea. Any uneaten remains of fruits and vegetables should be removed promptly to prevent them from spoiling and being eaten by mistake, which could make the hamsters sick.

Drinking Water: Provide clean drinking water (cool boiled water). Replace the wood shavings regularly (about once a week).

  Health Care

Tooth Grinding: Hamsters are rodents, so it's necessary to provide them with chew stones or chew sticks to prevent them from gnawing on the cage or having their teeth grow too long and affect their eating.

Cleaning: Syrian hamsters can't be bathed with water. You can provide them with bathing sand for cleaning instead.

Temperature Control: Keep the temperature at 20 degrees Celsius in the morning and evening, and at 28 degrees Celsius at noon. Avoid large fluctuations in temperature.

Through management and care in the above aspects, you can raise Syrian hamsters better and help them grow up healthily.
