Hamsters will give birth about 15 to 25 days after getting pregnant.
Hamsters are solitary animals. After mating, it is recommended to separate the male and female hamsters immediately. Otherwise, it's very likely that the two hamsters will fight. The gestation period of hamsters may vary due to individual factors. Some may give birth a little later than expected, while others may give birth earlier. During the pregnancy of hamsters, owners need to make the following preparations:
Warming Measures: When the hamster is about to give birth, the owner can take some warming measures to prevent the newborn hamsters from dying due to cold.
Nutrition and Hygiene: Provide hamsters with sufficient drinking water and food, and clean the cage every day to prevent skin problems during the pregnancy of hamsters.
Delivery Environment: Keep the environmental temperature above 21 °C, and prepare some fresh wood shavings and cotton wool for the hamster to make a nest conveniently.
If the hamster exceeds the expected due date for too long, or shows signs of contractions but fails to give birth to the fetus for a long time, it should be taken to the hospital for examination in a timely manner to ensure the life and health of both the mother and the fetus.
