Hamsters generally don't spread the plague. Domesticated hamsters live in a closed and clean environment, and the likelihood of them getting infected with the plague is extremely low. The plague is mainly transmitted through the bites of infected fleas or by inhaling bacteria - containing droplets and dust through the respiratory tract. The living environment of domesticated hamsters usually doesn't meet these transmission conditions.
However, in some special cases, the possibility of hamsters spreading the plague cannot be completely ruled out. For example, if a hamster comes into contact with wild animals infected with the plague or lives in an area where the plague is prevalent, the risk of infection may increase. Additionally, a hamster's immunity, the hygiene of its living environment, and the way it comes into contact with humans can also affect whether it will spread the plague.
To reduce the risk, it is recommended to keep the hamster's living environment clean and avoid overly close contact with hamsters.
